Ans. Yes, prior permission of felling of trees is mandatory as per provisio of the West Bengal Trees (Protection & Conservation in Non-forest Areas) Act, 2006

Ans. Only in certain designated forest area picnicking allowed with certain conditions. It is not allowed in all forest area.

Ans. All Forest Rest Houses are not open for public booking. However, certain FRHs/ eco-tourism centres are open for booking for public through online and by the concerned DFOs

Ans. There are sale centres in different districts&Kolkata under WBFDC, people can purchase furniture in the form of finishedproduct from there too.

Ans. 14th July every year. However, the celebration continues to 20th July. Free distribution of seedling, sale of forest produce at discounted rate is done during this period.

Ans. Every division under Directorate of Forest having Decentralised People Nursery where from people can purchase seedling as per their requirement in Government rate.

16. What is Sabujshree?

Ans. It’s a uniqueGovernment Project where a seedling is given to the parent of a new- born child from the Forest Directorate for plantation with a certificate that no felling permission is required to cut down the tree on maturity.

17. Can anybody/ institution/ company use forest land on lease for any developmental activity??

Ans. Only after getting prior clearance and approval of Competent Authorities prescribed under Forest Conservation Act, 1980. Before obtaining such clearance/ approval of the Competent Authorities use of any forest land for non-forestry purpose is a punishable offence under Forest Conservation Act, 1980.
